Have you been thinking about purchasing Ground Loop Design
for your commercial geothermal projects?
For a limited time, every purchase of a new seat of GLD2012
Premier will include a free Kindle Fire HD!
This offer applies to purchases completed in
December 2012.
The Kindle Fire is great for relaxing after
you finish your design work!
GLD 2012 Premier is the industry leading tool for design
and simulation of a wide variety of commercial loopfield
designs.

Dangers of Soil Characteristic “Guesswork”
The critical elements of any geothermal design involve
balancing the load to the loopfield.
The importance of accurately profiling the building
load profile is high on the list.
So once you have that information accurately
developed, you are ready to do your loopfield design, right?
Not quite.
Just as there are differences from building to
building, the soil conditions from site to site are
important and estimating the TC values in a vertical
borefield can cause a 20-25% error in your loopfield size.
It is NOT OK to take measured values from a job 5
miles away and use them for a new project.
Well drillers understand that the geology can vary
widely from one location to another.
As commercial jobs get larger, the risk of design
error can increase dramatically.
It is important to do Thermal Conductivity testing to
accurately profile a vertical borehole and the information
can help you prevent over or under design errors.
With the cost of doing a TC Test, the “break even”
point to consider doing the testing usually falls in the
20-30 ton range and the test borehole can be integrated into
the production loopfield.
Look
here for more information
regarding what to look for in a TC test.
There are many companies that offer TC Testing
Services.
If you want to do your own testing and do a couple tests
annually, there are commercial test units available such as
the
GeoCube.
Have You Seen GLD Lately?
The latest build of
the current GLD2012 and the ClimateMaster GLD Design Suite
are now available on our website for download.
We strive for continual improvement with each release
of GLD. Here are
some of the new items since earlier versions:
·
Extensive heat pump library.
GLD uses these
libraries to dynamically model the
performance of the heat pump and the impact on the GHX
system.
·
The program is now digitally
signed to help with companies that have extremely tight
IT security requirements.
·
GLD2012 now works with
Windows 8 Professional!
·
The CFD Module and Piping
Designer are unique in the industry!
No other geo design program has it
·
The Geothermal System
Analyzer module provides valuable comparisons between a
conventional
system cost and a geothermal system.
Payback terms, time of day rates, tax incentives and
more.
·
The Grid Builder lets you
design a real-world shape for your loopfield.
Rectangular loopfields are nice
but generally not what is found in real designs.
Any shape or layout can be simulated in GLD.
The current build
version of GLD2012 is 7.5.0.14.

as a system designer, installer, and GSHP equipment
distributor and is now recognized as one of the most
experienced low-temperature heat pump experts in the
industry.
The web based training is a series of (2) hour sessions that
are held for (10) weeks. The
course includes all of the materials and the CGD
